Gratin dishes are traditionally shallow, French-style dishes used for baking vegetables, particularly those in which a well-browned crust (gratin) is desired, or for baking fruits. They can generally be run under the broiler for a grilled or brûlée topping. Choose heavy-duty glazed porcelain, stoneware, earthenware, or ovenproof glass. Gratin dishes are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
