These baked croutons made with olive oil and whole grain bread are a perfect accompaniment for any green salad. Try it with a flavored olive oil, such as a good smoked variety.
INGREDIENTS (for 6 servings):
- 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 3 slices SARA LEE® Soft & Smooth™ Whole Grain White Bread
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large saute pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add bread cubes, and toss to coat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool.
