Something wonderful happens to butter, sugar, eggs and milk when you cook them slowly. They mingle, thicken and turn into caramel pie filling to make this delicious pie.
INGREDIENTS (for 8 servings):
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
PREPARATION:
Cream together butter or margarine, flour, and sugar.
Slightly beat egg, and add it plus milk to creamed mixture.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Cool, and add vanilla.
Pour into baked pie crust. Refrigerate. Serve with whipped cream.
