A rich cousin to the classic pecan pie, this version has dates and raisins as well as pecans, lots of brown sugar, eggs, cream and butter. And its plenty spicy with allspice and nutmeg. Serve it with unsweetened whipped cream.
INGREDIENTS (for 8 servings):
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 cup light cream
- 1/2 cup dates, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 (9 inch) pie shell
Cream butter or margarine, and add sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Mix in egg yolks. Combine flour and spices, and add to creamed mixture. Blend in cream. Stir in nuts, raisins, and dates. Pour filling into unbaked pie shell.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes, or until set. Cool.
