Kasha, a popular grain in Russian cookery, consists of toasted hulled buckwheat groats. Look for kasha in the cereal, grain, or flour section of your supermarket.
Grease an ovenproof casserole and fill with half of the vegetable mixture. With a spoon, drop dollops of the ricotta cheese mixture over the vegetables.
With a rubber spatula, spread the cheese mixture so that it covers the vegetables in an even layer.
