Rubbing Bread with Garlic
Slice French bread 1-inch thick. Brush the slices with olive oil. Halve a clove of garlic and rub it across both sides of the bread slices.
Cutting Croutons and Baking
Cut the coated bread slices into 3/4- to 1-inch strips with a serrated knife; don't separate the strips. Then hold the knife crosswise to the strips annd slice again, creating 3/4- to 1-inich cubes. Place cubes in a shallow baking pan and bake in a preheated 300-degree oven for about 15 minutes or until crisp.
