Chill this basic sugar cookie dough, then roll between two sheets of wax paper. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into festive holiday shapes such as turkeys, Pilgrims, pumpkins and leaves.
INGREDIENTS (for 2 servings):
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine flour, salt, baking soda and nutmeg.
Cream together the butter and sugar. Blend in the sour cream; add dry ingredients.
Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness on a sugar and floured surface.
Cut with cookie cutter; bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes.
