Tomatoes simmered with onion, celery, garlic, parsley basil and oregano. A quick and simple sauce.
INGREDIENTS (for 6 servings):
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 1/2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- salt and pepper to taste
PREPARATION:
Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Stir in onion, garlic and celery and cook until soft. Pour in tomatoes and tomato paste, stir, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Stir in parsley, basil, oregano, salt and pepper; simmer 15 minutes, uncovered. Serve.
