Great cookies that have won blue ribbons at 4H fairs and the Michigan State Fair. My kids love them and they usually last about two days in our house!
INGREDIENTS (for 6 servings):
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup wheat germ
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup crisp rice cereal
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Cream together both sugars and shortening until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and stir well.
Add dry ingredients one cup at a time and mix well after each cup. Add crispy rice cereal and chocolate chips and mix well.
Place by teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 11 - 13 minutes. Cool well before eating as the chocolate can burn your mouth.
