What happens to an unopened can of condensed milk that cooks for three hours in a pot of water? It becomes the caramel ambrosia in this Caramel Pie II.
INGREDIENTS (for 8 servings):
- 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
- 2 (14 ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen whipped topping, thawed
PREPARATION:
Place the UNOPENED cans of condensed milk in a medium saucepan. Fill saucepan with water to level of tops of cans. Place over high heat and allow to boil. Continue to boil for 3 hours, replacing water as needed. (It is extremely important not to let the water run out!)
After 3 hours, remove cans of condensed milk from boiling water and carefully open. Pour the caramelized milk into graham cracker crust and allow to cool. Top with whipped topping.
