A chewy bar chocked full of hazelnuts.
INGREDIENTS (for 2 servings):
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup hazelnuts, ground
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 6 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Mix together the flour, hazelnuts, baking powder, spices and salt. In a large bowl, cream the shortening and powered sugar. Beat in the lemon zest. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Press the dough into an ungreased 9-inch square baking pan.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the top is golden. Let cool in the pan or on a wire rack.
