I have played around with this old family recipe adding nuts, chips etc. and it always turns out really good and if made ahead is really quick when you need cookies in a hurry.
INGREDIENTS (for 4 servings):
- 1 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
PREPARATION:
Cream together butter or margarine, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, salt and baking soda.
Roll dough into 2 inch diameter logs. Wrap in waxed paper and freeze.
Slice and bake anytime at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) until light brown.
