A traditional Norwegian Christmas recipe.
INGREDIENTS (for 3 servings):
- 1 pound unsalted butter
- 3 cups white sugar
- 3 teaspoons bakers' ammonia
- 1 cup finely chopped almonds
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
PREPARATION:
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the powdered ammonia and chopped almonds. Knead in the flour. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and freeze for 1 hour.
preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Take cookies out of the freezer and bake for 30 minutes.
