This pie dough recipe makes 4 single crusts. The shortening, eggs and water are mixed first, and the flour mixed in last.
INGREDIENTS (for 2 servings):
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3 cups shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 10 tablespoons cold water
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
PREPARATION:
In a large bowl, combine shortening, sugar, eggs, salt, vinegar and water. Mix until smooth. Stir in the flour until just combined.
Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, flatten, then wrap with plastic and refrigerate.
