For this unusual recipe, the "frosting" bakes right along with the cookie. Don’t worry about making too many; they store beautifully.

Filling Pastry Bag
Fit a pastry bag with a plain writing tip. Fold back the top of the bag to form a collar; slip one hand under the collar to steady the bag. With a rubber spatula, fill bag with frosting. Twist top of bag above frosting to close. Squeeze out a few inches of frosting to eliminate air bubbles.

Piping Frosting
Arrange the cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Pipe the frosting in delicate patterns on each cookie, squeezing the bag with steady, even pressure. Vary the pattern from cookie to cookie.
