Making Indentations
Pat each roll of dough into a strip 2 inches wide. Press down the center of each strip with the back of a small spoon to create a 1-inch-wide indentation.

Cutting Strips
Bake the strips, transfer to a wire rack, then immediately fill the indentations with preserves. While the strips are still warm, cut them diagonally with a sharp knife into 1-inch-wide pieces. Sprinkle with nuts and cool completely.
